A Prize
This is a quick post
because I'm getting ready to go to a conference. I won a prize last week at the
House of 9 Lives
for the blog's first anniversary. The package arrived today with something for everyone.
I won a cute bracelet. It's metal but it's stretchy.
Oops, that's Katie's
arm reaching in there to grab the ribbon. Moments later she reached in to grab the
bracelet but I decided it was better to rescue the bracelet than try to take a picture.
The nine cats - Jazz, Lilah, Barny, Boomer, Blossom, Alley, Flirt, Kosmo, and Casanova
included a little something for Katie and the ferrets. There's some Meox Mix Ocean
Explosion for Katie. She's already had to share some of her treats with the ferrets.
Then there's some Shepard and Greene Chicken Bacon and Ranch treats. Now the ranch
part of the treats seemed kind of puzzling but the ferrets weren't puzzled at all.
They loved the treats!
That's Clyde checking out the treats and the bracelet. Even Clyde, who isn't normally
interested in treats, loved these. He stole as many of them as he could. The tissue
paper has been fun for everyone too. Thanks to the humans and the kitties for the
nice prize.
I'll be heading up
to Ohio for the weekend so I'll catch up when I get back.

An "I" and Some Monkey Business
I is for Icelandic
Fiber.
This is some Icelandic
Fiber from Spunky Eclectic .
I like to predraft my fiber before I spin it. That way it just seems to slip through
my fingers. I had a bit of glitz fiber in a coordinating color so I predrafted the
two together to give it a bit of sparkle. It's hard to see in the photo. Those white
specks are the flash of the glitzy stuff. I'm really looking forward to spinning
this fiber. I hope my spinning skills do it justice.
Apparently my brain
has been on vacation this week. I had a few yards of green singles left over from
the previous batch of Spunky Eclectic fiber I spun. I figured I would ply the two
together in case I ever needed a few yards of green yarn some day. So I plied them
up and I ended up with the worst, kinked up mess I've ever made. Just as I was getting
ready to throw it out, I realized what I did. It turns out I plied the singles in
the same direction as I spun them. For you non-spinners out there, usually you spin
the singles in one direction (say clockwise) and ply the singles together in the
other direction (counterclockwise). So I ended up running it through again in the
reverse direction. I know. It would have been much easier to just go out and buy
some green yarn if I needed it.
I did successfully
start a new pair of socks though. I started a pair of No Purl Monkey Socks with
some Socks That Rock lightweight, color Peaseblossom. I'm sure I'm the last remaining
person on the planet to knit these. I'm having a blast knitting them and I love
the colors. Maybe I won't take so long to finish these.
