Progress
I'm finally on the
last sleeve of the cable pullover. This is where I always start worrying that I
won't have enough yarn. I should, but that doesn't stop me from worrying.
Way back in January
I Kool-aid dyed about an ounce of Blue-faced Leicester roving with black cherry,
orange, and lemon Kool-aid. I thought it came out nice.
I've been spinning
it off and on for a while now. I drafted it in lengthwise strips. Finally this weekend
I got around to plying it back onto itself. It's a 2-ply yarn.
And finally I still
have at least a couple of baby in the quarantine tank so maybe they'll survive after
all.

I
actually got some work done on my sweater last night! Just another inch and a half
and I'll be done with one sleeve. Then just one more sleeve to go. Here's how the
sleeve looks so far.The yarn is Elann's
Peruvian Collection Sierra, a combination of wool and alpaca. It's really nice stuff
and blooms nicely when it's washed.
And
I noticed that I still have at least one baby Tetra left. I know I'll be lucky to
have any left since it's not exactly the best tank to raise baby fish. Plus I'm
totally unprepared for this. It's been fun though.

Well
I actually got some knitting in yesterday, not much but at least I was able to work
on the sleeves of my cable pullover. I always seem to wind down when I get to the
sleeves. If it doesn't get cold again this month, at least it will be ready for
next winter. I went to our local knitting group and no one seemed to be in the mood
to knit. The beautiful spring weather we're having must be affecting everyone's
knitting.
I found these great
old graphics yesterday from OldFashionedClipArt.com
while I was working on my genealogy web site. Black and white drawings of course,
but some very nice ones.
My other news is
I have baby fish. I had bought some tetras a while back and put them into the quarantine
tank for a couple of weeks. So yesterday I went to clean out the tank so I could
buy a few more tetras, (I had moved the others out last weekend.) and there were
baby fish in there. Don't know if they will survive, but it's exciting anyway.

Well I haven't really
had time to do much knitting or spinning lately. First I started working on this
blog. Then a friend got me working on my genealogy again. Plus there are all the
other things that come up in life. But I did receive a couple of books I've been
wanting for a long time - A
Treasury of Knitting Patterns by Barbara Walker and Knitting
Around by Elizabeth Zimmermann. Barbara Walker's book is an excellent
resource for patterns. One of the best investments I've made. I have the other books
by Elizabeth Zimmermann but didn't get Knitting
Around until now. All of her books are good but I feel like I get a
lot of insight into the person with this book.
