Ramblin' Rows

Well in spite of the continuing chaos around here, I actually have made progress on the Rambling Rows Afghan. I haven't decided yet whether I actually like the color combination. On the other hand, I haven't used all of the colors yet. It's actually going much faster than I expected, in spite of my limited time to work on it these days. Basically it's just some garter stitch and decreases. Plus I like the idea of adding on one square at a time. It gives me a greater sense of accomplishment as each square or rectangle is added on. The downside is that every time you add a square, you are also casting on and picking up stitches. If you want to practice casting on and picking up stitches, this is the project for you. Plus I imagine adding on squares won't be quite so exciting as I get near the end. So here's my progress so far.

Progress on the Rambling Rows afghan

Notice the strategic use of safety pins so I don't forget which is the right side this time. Take it from me, it just doesn't look the same if you forget which side is which from square to square. In other knitting news, I'm just a couple of seams and tails away from finishing the cable pullover. It wouldn't take me long to do the final push and finish it up, I just haven't gotten motivated to finish it yet. Plus I still have that fear that the arms will be too short and I don't won't that frustration right now. So I'll save the pictures for another day.

If you've been following my opossum story, I've got a face shot of the opossum. Plus I've learned a lot about them in the process. Turns out opossums are good to have around since they keep mice, rats, bugs, and anything that rotting away. This is much like others, slow moving and doesn't seem to get very upset. They are also immune to snake venoms, at least the ones we would have around here. So I leave you with Mr. or Ms. Opossum Face while I try to get my life in some semblance of order. I accomplished my mission of taking a good picture.
