Sleep, the Final Frontier

No pictures today because I'm too tired take any. Did I mention that I hate daylight saving time? Besides it's been way too rainy and gloomy for pictures this week. Indoor lighting and camera flash just don't cut it. It rained buckets yesterday, good napping weather but not good photo weather unless you're looking for the goth look. I'm afraid my pictures would be fairly boring anyway. I've been knitting away on my Shetland Tea Shawl and getting close to putting a border on it. The Ribby Cardi has all the ends sewn in and just needs the zipper put in, which I've been putting off. You just don't know how happy I will be to get rid of some of these projects. I like the way they are turning out; I just want them finished so I can move on to other things.

Part of the reason I'm so tired is that we drove down to Birmingham on Tuesday to meet a bunch of people. We had a great time, but we got back really late. Between that and Daylight Savings Time, I need sleep desperately. So instead of boring you with the same old projects, I'll leave you with a couple of fun web sites. For those of you looking for a good used time machine, it looks like you missed a bargain on Ebay. If you are an American Idol fan, or even if you're not, you have to check out this cartoon. As much as I want to give away the surprise ending I just can't.

I'm off to sleep. Better weather is predicted for tomorrow.

Argh! Daylight Savings Time

I hate daylight savings time. Morning is not my best time and getting up an hour earlier doesn't help. Well lets just leave it there. If my blog is a mess, that's why.

You might remember that I bought a load of old Spin Off magazines a while back. Well I've been having a blast reading them. There is a wealth of information in that stack. Here's just a few examples.

Color chips from a Spin Off issue

  • Color theory, including color chips to cut out and exercises - Fall '96
  • Dyeing with spices - Summer '96
  • Drop spindle basics - Spring '95
  • Building a cigar box charkha - Winter '96
  • Spinning novelty yarns with sequins and beads - Spring '97
  • Building an electric spinner - Fall '95

Plus detailed articles on brands of spinning wheels, how to handle different fibers, blending fibers, and some beautiful projects that others have done. There is plenty in there for inspiration when you need it. Interweave Press has a Complete Index on their website for 1977-2000 plus indexes for 2001-2004. If you are looking for some specific information, you can narrow it down with the index. It's a great resource.

I'm off to recover from Daylight Savings Time.
