Pile of yarn and a spindle

As The Yarn Turns

The tales of how I squeeze knitting and spinning into an already full life

Aahhh!

That's better. It's good to have some spinning and knitting time again. I get downright testy when I'm not able to get in some time for myself. The past few days spent spinning and knitting have been much needed. In addition to making progress on my knitting projects, I finished the batch of Jacob wool I was spinning. Each skein is close to one ounce and about 100 yards. I like the end result but for some reason I had more trouble than usual spinning it. I'm still not sure what I'm going to make with it. I'm leaning towards wristwarmers.

I also realized I've been holding back on you on fiber purchases. I received some beautiful silk fiber from the Silkworker a while back. This is truly beautiful stuff. Even Rick was impressed. Now hopefully I'll be able to do a decent job spinning it. This particular colorway is Nedda.

It's a long weekend for me so I'm hoping it will be a productive weekend, fiberwise.

Happy 4th to those in the USA.

Coming Up for Air

Things ran amok here last week so there hasn't been much blogging. That's okay though since there wasn't much knitting going on either. In hindsight there wasn't anything dramatic going on. It just seemed that every time I thought I had a chance to sit and knit, something happened that I had to get up and go. You've had those weeks, I know you have. But the important thing is that life has calmed down a bit and I actually got some knitting and spinning in.

I just realized that after getting all of those projects finished a while back, I'm now back to the same number of projects. Hopefully, I can finish them sooner though. I don't think this picture show it but I've now finished the waist decreases for the Shapely Tee. I'm actually getting into a rhythm in spite of the lack of time.

I also worked a bit on the mohair scarf-wrap. It's been hard to work up any enthusiasm for knitting mohair when the temps are in the 90s, but it's an easy knit so I've managed a few inches.

We had the usual weather for the Helen Keller festival - hot and humid. It usually manages to be some of the hottest days of the year, and this year didn't disappoint. It's always a great festival though so It didn't stop the crowds a bit. It helped that we had a few showers on Sunday to cool things off.

So now that it's quiet again, I'm off to get in some quality knitting time.
