Blogging Slug

Yep, that's me. I've been a lazy blogger. I swear I had every intention of blogging and had plenty of blog fodder but life just kept getting in the way. I think it was the heat. It's cooler now but before it got cooler our air conditioner really did just give up and die. Meet our new air conditioner.

Our new air conditioner

Remind me to never put the idea in our air conditioner's head that it's allowed to die on one of the hottest days of the year. (see previous blog) There's nothing like 100 degrees and no air conditioner to really start your week off bad. Luckily we were able to get it replaced quickly. But by the time it got installed, the poor thing had to work hard to get the house cooled down. We were all in much better spirits by the next day (furry family members especially).

After that we found out we were going to be in a show at the regional magic convention SEAM 2005) this weekend in nearby Huntsville, AL. We're really excited about this opportunity but it is requiring some serious last minute racing around, in addition to our usual every day racing around. In addition the WC Handy Festival was last week so we tried to participate in that when we could. Then last night we went to see the Mamata Shankar Ballet Troupe, a dance company from India. The performance was very good. It probably would have been better if I knew a little more about Indian culture but it was still very enjoyable. I'm glad I went. Even Rick, who knows nothing about ballet, enjoyed it.

I have managed to get some knitting in during all of this. I finally finished one of the cotton socks out of Filatura di Crosa Dolce Amore.

Completed cotton sock

I think it turned out well and fits great. I even like the swooshing swirling colors. It will be interesting to see how it wears after a few washings. Course first I have to finish the second sock.

I'm off to do a bit more racing around.
