Spinning and Leaving

I've been a bad blogger again. I every intention of posting on my blog last week but life got in the way. I've been knitting and spinning and partying, just not blogging.

Nope it's not a birthday party; it's a going away party. Our neighborhood had a going away party for one of our neighbors. We're a close group and we hated to see them go. It's hard to find good neighbors. It's a good opportunity for them though.

I'm still spinning away on the fiber I dyed in the crock pot a while back. Right now I'm working on the red fiber. My carding technique is getting much better. I think at first I was putting too much fiber on the hand cards. I also decided I like my rolags with the fibers going lengthwise. Now my rolags are smaller but better looking and easier to handle.

It was impossible to completely separate out the colors so that shows up in the singles as a bit of blue or purple here and there, even once it's carded and spun. I actually like that look though.

I haven't quite decided how I'm going to ply them. Right now I'm leaning toward plying different colors together since they all have a bit of the other colors in them. Now the big question is whether I know what I want to do with it when I'm done. Absolutely not. One of these days I'll actually spin for a project but not today.
