Revenge of the Summer Top
This is what happens
when you abandon a summer knitting project too long. It turns on you.
Yes, that's right,
it unraveled. I had finished the front and back and attached the front to the back
at one shoulder with a three needle bind off. Since I was going to finish the neck
before seaming the other shoulder, I put the live stitches on stitch holders. I
picked up stitches to finish off the neckline and put the whole thing in my knitting
bag. That was back in September. This is where the top gets its revenge. I got distracted
by my vacation and other knitting and Socktoberfest and Halloween and just life
in general. So today I decided I would get the top out to work on it. As I was pulling
it out some of the yarn ends seemed longer than I remembered. That's when I realized.
The yarn ends weren't longer, the sweater was unraveling. Apparently the stitch
holder came out while it was sitting in my knitting bag. (Yeah right. We know that
knitting has its ways of getting revenge.) Luckily I caught it before too much damage
was done. I only had to knit a couple of rows and put it back on the stitch holder.
Guess I'll be working on this top before it gets really ticked off, even if it is
November .
As soon as I get
my Socktoberfest
goodie bag from DiscountYarnSale.com ,
I'll post pictures. I know Lolly
is anxious to see what's in my goodie bag and I'm really excited to see it. I love
surprises!
I'm off to keep an
eye on my summer top.

A Winner
Yes, a winner. How
cool is that? Turns out I'm one of the winners in the Socktoberfest
random drawing yesterday. Usually if it has the word "random" in it,
I have no chance of winning. Not this time. The best part is that it's a goodie
bag from DiscountYarnSale.com .
I'm one of those people who has a really hard time passing up a surprise package
or goodie bag or... Well you get the idea.
Other than being
a Socktoberfest winner, I have been making progress on my Mountain Colors Bearfoot
sock. Now that our Halloween magic show craziness is over, my knitting time should
be calmer.
The nice thing about
a little bit of craziness and chaos is that you can knit while everyone else is
losing their heads. That's also another good reason for having a simple sock pattern.
I'm off to rest up
from yesterday's festivities.

New Socks Sunday
Well actually I started
these socks a few days ago. I ended up deciding to use the Mountain Colors Bearfoot
yarn, Silverbow colorway. At first I was going to use a sock pattern with a texture
or perhaps a simple lace pattern. In the end, though, I decided to do my plain sock.
It just seems like a big waste of time to use a textured or lacey pattern with a
multicolor yarn that usually hides the pattern. Besides, this is a yarn that begs
to be shown off to its best advantage. So plain sock it is.
I really like this
yarn. The colors are nice and the yarn has a soft, fuzzy quality to it. They will
make excellent winter socks I think.
Now all I really
need is some time to work on them. Right now we're getting ready for our annual
event, a magic show. Every Halloween we put on a magic show for the neighborhood
out of our garage. We usually give some of the neighborhood kids a chance to be
in the show too. So not only do we have to get ready for the show but we have to
clean up the garage a bit. Plus right now our house is complete chaos, worse that
its normal chaotic state, with magic stuff scattered everywhere. It takes some work
just to find my knitting. But everything should be back to normal in a couple of
days, or at least as close as we get to normal. Maybe then I can clear off enough
space to block my Shetland Lace Scarf and start working on my fleeces.
