Thanksgiving and a Surprise
I'm back from Thanksgiving
and full of turkey and dressing. We had a business meeting in Atlanta this week
and while I had every intention of blogging while I was gone, it just didn't work
out. Rick's family lives in the Atlanta area so we decided to spend Thanksgiving
with his folks. Since we had some extra time, we did some touristy thing. We visited
the Civil War Museum at Kennesaw
Mountain National Battlefield Park and hiked up to the top of Kennesaw Mountain.
It was kind of a hazy day but we still had a spectacular
view of the surrounding area. I finally had a chance to grab a picture of the
Big Chicken in Marietta, Georgia. I've never had a camera with me when I've been
by there on our previous trips.
In case you're not
familiar with the Big
Chicken , it's a local landmark. You really can't miss it. Any directions you
get will be given as north or south of the Big Chicken. Oh, and you can't tell from
the picture but the beak opens and closes too. We also visited Lost Mountain, which
didn't seem very lost to me, and Billy Goat Bridge, which had been transformed from
a rickety old bridge to a new cement bridge with nary a billy goat in site. Of course
it was fun visiting with family and eating ourselves silly too.
Socktoberfest
Prize
The nice thing about
coming home was that my prize from Jeanie
at DiscountYarnSale.com
for the Socktoberfest
drawing was waiting for me when I got home.
Isn't that a nice
package? The Mountain Colors Bearfoot yarn is Huckleberry colorway. I've really
fallen in love with this yarn and the colors in this skein are just luscious. I
had been wanting the Vogue Socks book for a while now and just never got it. It
contains several sock patterns that I would like to try, including the cover socks,
and it has some argyle socks and some cute baby socks. Plus I've got the perfect
project for the large bag. My afghan project is overflowing in its much too small
tote bag. This bag will be perfect for it. Stitch markers always come in handy,
especially with lace, and since I'm a double-point girl, the needles and needle
case will come in handy. I'm thrilled. What a nice surprise! I'm off to fondle my
new toys.

Must Finish Projects
I'm still in finishing-projects
mode here. It's a nice feeling to be finishing stuff up for a change. I finished
the first Mountain Colors Bearfoot sock and just have one more to go.
Now that I've finished
the first sock, I'm really jazzed to finish the second one. This one fits well and
it feels so nice and soft on my foot. I'm ready to start wearing these babies.
I also finished the
second sleeve for the Shapely Tee.
There's just seaming
and weaving left to do. That won't happen until after Thanksgiving for sure, but
hopefully before the new year. I really don't mind seaming it's just that there's
not much incentive with the current weather. On the other hand, I'm anxious to finish
it up so I can mark it off of my list. Any day now, this energy for finishing up
projects will probably wear off. I'm already eyeing my stash and lusting after knitting
patterns.
I'm not sure if I'll
post another entry before Thanksgiving, so if not Happy Thanksgiving to those of
you in the United States. For sure, I'll talk to you again after Thanksgiving, if
not sooner. Right now, I'm frantically racing around the house trying to get things
ready.
