No Olympics Here

You have probably guessed by now that I won't be joining the Knitting Olympics. There can't be more than a handful of us. I really want to finish some of the things I've started before I start still another major project. Besides I do not knit well under pressure. I'm afraid even the ferrets would object. I will be cheering on all of you Olympic knitters though. I even grabbed one of JenLa's buttons.

On a different note, if you are interested in cross stitch, check out Dipsy Doodle's blog. She has the most amazing stuff. At least I think it's cross stitch. I have almost no experience in that area. I had no idea you could even make pictures like that in cross stitch.

I'm still knitting on the Gentleman's Socks but I'll save you from having to look at a picture that looks much like the previous picture.

Good luck to all of you Olympic Knitters!

Sock Progress

Well I've been knitting on the Gentleman's Socks a bit and spinning a bit. I'm getting anxious to finish the Gentleman's Socks. I really like the way they look and I want to get them far enough along to see how they look on Rick's feet.

Gentleman's Sock

I know I could take the needles out and let him try them on now, but I would just as soon wait until they are farther along. I've also put the "Count Your Socks" button up. I have 9 pairs of hand knit socks right now. As soon as I finish this pair of socks for Rick I plan to start knitting more socks for me. I'm a slow sock knitter though since sock knitting is for those times when I'm waiting (for an appointment, for something to finish, etc.). So I doubt I will be in competition for a prize. Mostly I'm hoping it will give me incentive to knit myself more socks.

Speaking of socks, I was spinning some more blue-faced leicester tonight and it did not cooperate at all. Things started going downhill when a stray bit of fiber wound around the rod where the bobbin sits. While I was trying to see what was going on, the other end of the fiber I was spinning got twisted in with the single I had just spun. Lets just say it was not a pretty picture. After getting everything untangled, I decided to stop for the day. Some days just aren't meant for spinning. I think this was one of them. The reason I mentioned socks, is that once I get this fiber spun, I think I'll make myself some nice warm cozy socks out of the yarn. My perpetually cold feet are yearning for some handspun handknit socks.
