New Yarn Day
Yesterday I got home
later than normal so it was the perfect day to receive my prize from Chaotic Playlist
contest on Stumbling
Over Chaos . Phoebe gave me lots of help opening the package .
"Are you sure
there's nothing in here for me?"
The Sunburst sock
yarn is much nicer in person that it is on the computer screen, at least my computer
screen. Plus the colors are perfect for April
Project Spectrum . They will make nice cheery socks for those gloomy days. Chris
also included a few other goodies.
"Hmm...I smell
a Minnesota cat."
Dark chocolate is
always appropriate. She also included her own Chaotic
Kitty Mix . Katie and I both approve of the selections. What more could you want
for knitting - nice yarn, dark chocolate, and good music.
Rick also put up
a video of
our bad weather we had last Friday, if you are interested. Keep in mind this is
the same man who gets nervous if I look out the window during a storm. His cousin
had the best comment though. "What the hell were you doing out there taking
pictures?" Me, I took a single picture and herded Katie away from the door.
Katie has no fear of bad weather.
Got to run.

The Calm After The Storm
Things have calmed
down from the weekend, thankfully. Nothing else has broken down and the weather
has been good. I'm not sure if I mentioned the details about the yarn I'm using
for the socks. It's Opal Brasil color 5003. The colors in the picture are close
to the colors in real life.
So I'm taking advantage
of this bit of calm to take a yellow tour through the house for Project
Spectrum . The first stop is the fish mobile.
I got the mobile
to brighten up a corner that was pretty darned boring otherwise. From there, we
stop by a picture painted by a local artist. She used clays to produce the colors
of paint that was used in this picture.
Now we're down to
books and magic stuff. There's not a lot of yellow stuff in the house but I'm sure
I've missed a few things.
This is my eclectic
collection of yellow books. On the right side is a yellow silk scarf. We have lots
of silk scarfs that get used in our magic shows. On the left is a yellow rope, also
for magic shows. Then at the very top is a drug sample box that Rick added. If I
hadn't stopped him, he would have started going through the kitchen cabinets.

A Dark and Stormy Night
Don't you just hate
it when someone ends their blog with "Okay we have storms coming, so I'm off"
and then you never hear from them again. It's been such a crazy weekend, I actually
forgot I had posted that until Rick was reading my blog and noticed I hadn't said
anything about our storm. Literally right as I pushed the Send button on my blog
editor, the tornado sirens went off. We knew ahead of time that the storms would
probably be bad Friday night. I was just trying to squeeze a blog in before I had
to shut everything down. So we were watching the news to see exactly where the possible
tornado was (we live in a long county). The weather staff was watching video from
a local tower and looking for anything resembling a tornado. They spot a good candidate
in the distance. I decide to look out our back window, since most of our bad weather
comes from that direction, and I see this.
Yes, it was the same
cloud they were watching on TV. The bad part was that you couldn't see the bottom
because of the houses. The good news is that it got sucked back up right before
it moved over our house, so no serious damage to our house or our neighbors' houses.
A tornado did touch down later from that same cloud and several other tornadoes
touched down in the area, though, so we feel very lucky. This is starting to be
a weekly Friday night event. Last Friday it was a huge hail storm.
The good news is
that I was able to get some knitting done since it was a long night of waiting out
the storms. I'm almost ready to start the heel on my first April sock.
Other than that,
it's been a "stuff breaking down" weekend. My automatic garage door opener
died, so we're in the process of replacing that now. Then today on my way home from
work, I stopped at the grocery store. I got back in my car and the car wouldn't
start. It turned out to be a dead battery, so I had to make a quick trip out for
a new battery. I'm actually glad I stopped at the grocery store. I would have been
real irritable if that had happened in the morning. So hopefully I have fully passed
into the replacement and fixing phase of the "stuff breaking down" weekend.
I'm looking forward to a less exciting week.
