Seven Things and a Sock

Dipsy tagged me to do this meme. I realized there are a lot of things that I just don't think about much, at least not in list form. So before I spend more time on this, here's my choices, in no particular order.

Seven things to do before I die

  • Take the mule ride into the Grand Canyon
  • Go to Maryland Sheep and Wool
  • Go to Japan
  • Learn to weave
  • Learn more languages
  • Go to Antarctica
  • Finish these knitting projects I have hanging around

Seven things I cannot do

  • Be a waitress
  • Sell stuff
  • Be wide awake early in the morning
  • Keep from dropping my knitting needles
  • Lie
  • Go without coffee in the morning
  • Mistreat an animal

Seven things that attract me to my man

  • His smile
  • His sensitivity
  • His humor
  • His intelligence
  • His face
  • His knowledge
  • His love of books

Seven books I love

  • Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
  • Now We Are Six
  • A Child's Garden of Verses
  • All of Elizabeth Zimmerman's books
  • The Book of Qualities
  • Lost in the Funhouse
  • Godel, Escher, Bach

Seven things I say

  • Howdie
  • Cool
  • I guess
  • Ferreting
  • Good enough for government work
  • Wow
  • Beats me

Seven movies I've loved

  • Fargo
  • March of the Penguins
  • Blade Runner
  • Star Wars
  • Men in Black
  • American President (mostly because one of the main characters has my name)
  • Contact

I'm not going to tag anyone for this. If this is something you would like to do, go for it. I also finished the first Opal sock. Zoe insisted on inspecting my work.

Katie on the other hand could care less. She is still infatuated with the tissue paper from Chris.

Almost A Sock

This will be a quick and somewhat random post because we're all tired today, even the ferrets and the cat. Rick has whatever this crud is that's going around town. It's pretty bad stuff so he's been pretty pitiful. (Let's just hope I don't get sick because I get really cranky when I get sick.) Luckily he is seems quite a bit better tonight. He actually feels like getting up and moving so we may be approaching normality, although I'm not sure anyone would call us normal.

I'm almost finished with the first Opal sock. I'm looking forward to finishing these. I like the colors.

Opal sock progress

I probably would be further along except I did something weird to my hand last night and decided to give it a rest from knitting today. My hand is okay now so with a little bit of luck, I may finish them before the month is over.

Before I run off, I'll leave you with a picture of some irises in the yard. (Ignore all the weeds. In spite of my degree, garden upkeep isn't my strong point.) These bloom earlier than the usual irises around town and I always look forward to seeing them.

A Calm Weekend

We had a pretty good weekend here. There were no life threatening storms or personal disasters. In fact, the weather was really nice and everything else was pleasantly dull. We did finally finish putting up the new garage door opener. Otherwise we spent the weekend eating, knitting, and dyeing Easter Eggs.

Easter Eggs

It's our annual hard boiled egg extravaganza. I didn't dye any fiber or yarn with this particular batch since it was the three color glitter set. I do have an extra set saved just for dyeing though.

I finally finished my Project Spectrum postcard so it should go out sometime this week. I'm not sure where this month went. It seems like it was the first of April just a few days ago.

Chris mentioned on her blog that Kat was having a contest where you list five places you have knit other than your home or a knitting store. Here's my list.

  1. Traveling by plane or as a passenger in a car
  2. At the doctor's office
  3. During magic club meetings and any other meeting where I can get away with it.
  4. In our local Comcast TV studio where we do a computer help show from time to time. (Note: Do not bring metal needles if you tend to drop them a lot. They make a lot of noise on the hard floors.)
  5. Waiting in line to see a Star Wars movie.

I tried spinning wool with a spindle at our local mall once while I was waiting for Rick. Kids were pointing at me and parents were pulling them away in case they got too close.

I'm off.
