June, the Blue Month
There's something
comforting about reaching June, the blue month for Project
Spectrum . May was a hectic month for me. There was a lot going on. Plus it was
the green month for Project Spectrum. I have green stuff but I seem to have trouble
with green. I like green but I'm never quite satisfied with it. I have no idea why.
Now blue is completely different. My favorite color may change from year to year
but there's always a place for blue. So to kick off the blue month, I'm following
Lolly's
lead and showing my blue stash. Now I don't have a huge stash, I tend to buy
a project at a time. Here are the highlights though.
Starting at the top
left is some Cotton Ease I found on sale and just couldn't pass up, followed by
some Brown Sheep yarn I found at a charity flea market. On the right is some wool-ease
I'm using for an afghan that I've been working on forever. On top is some blue wool
fiber I bought for spinning. Moving on to the sock yarn stash, I have more blue
yarn than any other color. .
From the top is Steinbach
Wolle, Fortissima, Mountain Colors Bearfoot, and Wildfoote. Plus I've got a lot
of odds and ends scattered here and there. Most are partial balls from previous
projects plus some miscellaneous balls of Sugar and Cream cotton that I bought for
some long forgotten reason. Hmm... looking at all of this makes me want to buy more
yarn

A Random Goodbye to Green
Well it's the end
of May and I didn't do much that fit into the Project Spectrum Green
theme this month, except maybe a little (way too little) yard work. Hopefully
I'll do better in June since it's the blue month.
I did manage to get a picture of this brilliantly green bush in the yard.
I am not sure what
they are, but they almost glow in the spring. As the weather gets hotter and drier
in the summer, they start losing leaves and aren't quite as bright.
I have been knitting
some on the scarf. You remember the cashmere and silk lace scarf I started in March
for Project Spectrum don't you?
I decided to knit
on it while I decide which socks to start next. I kind of abandoned it for a while
so it's not close to being finished yet. With any luck at all, I'll finish it before
Project Spectrum is over.
Claudia
brought this up today in her blog so I thought I'd mention it here too. If you are
in the US and have a blog, a website, a small Internet business or just like to
use the Internet, you might want to familiarize yourself with the network neutrality
issue. You can find out more information here .
On a brighter note,
I'll leave you with a picture of Phoebe helping Rick make some contacts on the ham
radio.

Lots of Chocolate
Well the wedding
on Saturday was a success. The weather was beautiful, the wedding was beautiful,
and it looked like everything went off without a problem. When we went to the reception,
the first table I spotted was this one.
I'm not sure that
I've seen that much chocolate in one place outside of a chocolate shop. There's
a little more chocolate over to the left, outside the picture. Needless to say,
I made sure I stopped by that table.
Otherwise it's been
a nice, relaxing weekend. I got a little bit of knitting done and continued with
my attempt to get some organization into life (a continuing struggle). I did some
knitting on the cashmere scarf. I haven't taken a picture of it lately but I'll
try to get one soon. I still haven't decided what my next sock will be. Overall
it's been a good weekend. The holiday came at just the right time.
