UFOs, The Unfinished Story
Scout
has asked us to confess our UFOs (unfinished objects if you're not familiar with
the term). There was actually a time when I felt left out of the UFO discussions.
I never had more than two things on the needles at a time, and I always finished
them. It wasn't that long ago either. Then I added something and something else.
Pretty soon I had UFOs languishing in the corners.
Right now I have
two things that I'm actually working on. I won't bore you with still another progress
picture of those. It's the Jaywalker socks that I showed yesterday and the Arrowhead
Lace Scarf that I showed last Wednesday. I'm knitting on both of these, just slowly.
It's been too hot to get enthusiastic about much of anything.
Then there's the
two projects that have been gathering dust. First the one that has been marinating
the longest, the Rambling Row Afghan.
I think I started
this about two years ago. I worked on it a lot and then stopped because got too
hot. I worked on it again last winter but I got distracted or something and there
it has sat. It is way too hot right now to be working on it. If it ever cools off
for more than a day or two, I'll pick it back up again. Really I will!
The next one is a
mohair scarf that doesn't have that much more to go.
That's Katie checking
it out in the upper right corner. She loves mohair. I started it last fall and then
kind of quit working on it. I think I just got bored with it. It doesn't have much
more to go. I should just motor on through and finish it. Oh yeah, there's that
heat thing, and mohair. Okay maybe I'll finish it up after I finish this other scarf.
On a completely different
note, or maybe not, I'll be away again for a long weekend down to Birmingham, Alabama
at a convention. I'll try to post to the blog while I'm gone but it doesn't always
work out. If not, I'll see you on Sunday or Monday, depending on how tired I am.

Winding Down July
I can't believe it's
the end of July already. It has been a fun month. It's just hectic for the last
month or two. I'm looking forward to things calming down a bit in another week or
two. I can hope, anyway! The Jaywalker socks are almost to the point where I was
before I ripped them back. Handy Week was good for making progress on the Jaywalkers.
They still seem to quietly extract the needles when I'm not looking. Apparently
they think I should have much smaller feet and ankles. The extra stitches introduced
a bit of pooling, but they still have that stripey thing going on. Besides I still
like them and there is no way I am going to rip them back again.
Since we're at the
end of the purple month for Project
Spectrum , here are a couple more purple pictures. First here's a box I painted
a week or two ago when I was playing around with some paint and some techniques
on Try It Tuesdays .
I like the way it turned out. I might have to use this for some gifts when the holidays
get closer.
Then there's my orchid.
It just started putting out blooms a couple of days ago.
I'll leave you with
a not so patient Balt.
"Hey, how
long are you going to be in the bathroom?"
