Odds and Ends

My yarn from the Quiddity Show Me Your Socks Contest arrived today. This is my first experience with Claudia Hand Painted Yarn and it is nice stuff.

Show Me Your Socks yarn

I've got lots of nice sock yarn waiting in the wings. It's going to be hard to choose the next one.

Just in case I confused anyone in my last post, my birthday was last month. It's just that the mylar balloons usually last two or three weeks.

Yesterday's newspaper had a Petco flyer with a coupon for a self-service dog wash.

Does anyone else get this vision of little tracks where you hook the dog's feet down, then he gets run through a tunnel of sprayers and brushes and those flappy things? Not to mention, I'm not sure where they would put a self-service dog wash in our store. Okay, it's been a long week.

On that note, I'll leave you with the Assistant to the Assistant Network Administrator on the server desk. (That would be Phoebe.)

Socks and Balloons

I've started the second Schaeffer Anne sock. It's moving right along.

I'm anxious to get these done and start a new pair. It's really nice yarn but I've looked at it way too long. I would rather see it on my feet.

It turns out I was one of the prize winners of the Second Annual Show Me Your Socks Contest at Quiddity. I'm always amazed when I when a contest since I don't enter that many. This was a fun contest though. If you haven't seen the sock displays, go on over and take a look. There's a lot of creativity in those displays, not to mention a lot of nice socks.

The ferrets love to play with balloons. Balt loves to pop the latex ones (supervised of course). All of the ferrets like to play with the mylar balloons. The problem is that they take longer to settle down to the floor. My mylar balloon from my birthday finally got down to ferret height, so Phoebe used this opportunity to attack it.

"Ah ha! I've got the balloon now. It's all mine."
