Favorite Coffee Spot

The Knitters' Coffee Swap is having a contest on our favorite coffee spots. My favorite coffee spot isn't even in this part of the country. It's Peets Coffee and Tea. So I have to indulge in Peets at home.

Peets stuff and favorite coffee mug

On the right is my favorite coffee mug, given to me by some friends. When the three of us were all in town here, we would frequently go on weekend day trips starting early in the morning. Lets just say I'm not a morning person at all. Grumpy and incoherent probably covers it well.

In town I have two favorite coffee spots. One is Rivertown Coffee downtown.

Inside Rivertown Coffee

It has the advantage of being right next to the theater, so we've been frequent visitors when we're working in the theater. It has something for coffee, tea, and hot cocoa drinkers and comfortable places to sit and drink your coffee.

My other favorite spot is Coffee-ol-ogy. The coffee is good but it is also conveniently located in the library.

I'm off to get a cup of coffee.

Kiri Progress and Ferret Fashion

It doesn't look like much when I look at the picture but I've completed Chart 2 of the Kiri Shawl. I've only got 11 more repeats to go.

For some unknown reason, the color is actually close to real life. I usually have trouble getting good photos of purple. I would probably be further along but I ripped back two rows, in mohair. I was a few rows into Chart 2 and it just didn't look right. I couldn't figure out how to fix it or how it fake it, so I did the unthinkable. It can be done but I don't recommend it. I'm a little bit crazier than I was before I ripped it back. Which leads me to...

Ferrets in hats. I couldn't help myself. Elaborate Christmas decorations are going up all over the neighborhood. Phoebe woke up and promptly had an elf hat on her head.

"Are you sure this is the latest ferret fashion for the holidays?"

Post Thanksgiving Wrapup

It's been a good Thanksgiving vacation. We spent Thanksgiving at home, which is good since we didn't have to travel. A friend came over for Thanksgiving and we had lots of good food and watched a movie (can't remember the name). It was a nice, relaxed day. In fact, it's been a nice relaxing weekend with beautiful weather. None of the ferrets or the cat will eat turkey, so we didn't have to share with them. I love leftover turkey.

I spent more time relaxing than knitting but I do have some progress. I'm finished with Chart 1 on the Kiri Shawl. Other than the fact that it's mohair, it hasn't been bad to knit.

I also knit a bit on the Fluted Banister socks. These have been really easy to knit. I'm getting ready to start to heel here.

I hope all of you had a good weekend too.
