A Finished Sock
The nice thing about
having some time off is that I can get some knitting done. Rick and I drove over
to Huntsville on Friday to have the car serviced. I got some sock knitting done
on the drive over, the drive back, and while we were waiting. That means I have
a completed sock to show you.
That's the fluted
banister sock. I still have to finish the second sock. The Christmas tree is still
lightly decorated.
And Santa Ferret
is resting up for his big night.
If you're celebrating,
I hope the holidays are pleasant for you. See you on the other side.

Blog in Review and a Tree Obsessed Ferret
We're off for two
weeks starting today. I tell you those first two days of the week felt like a whole
week by themselves. We have a few little trips planned but mostly just some relaxation.
Chris and Cara
did this meme where you take the first sentence of the first post of each month
for 2006. Not quite the year in review but it seemed interesting. Besides it will
distract you from the lack of knitting content. My comments are in italics.
January Well
it's time to take the Holiday decorations down, although I might put it off for
another day or two or three. (I feel sure I did put it off.)
February I'm
still alive. (That's certainly good news. Actually it was when we had computer
problems and did some upgrades.)
March We
were out of town at a magic convention this weekend, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
April It's
April which means yellow and orange are the colors for this Project Spectrum month.
May I'm
convinced that cats can travel in time and space.
June There's
something comforting about reaching June, the blue month for Project Spectrum.
July Today's
Saturday Sky is brought to you by 97 F temperatures and no rain in sight.
August Scout
has asked us to confess our UFOs (unfinished objects if you're not familiar with
the term). (I think I still have a lot of those UFOs.)
September I
did it. (I should make all of you look back to find out what I did, but I won't.
I finished my Bitchin' Mittens.)
October I'm
not sure what I did this weekend, but I wasn't posting to blog or even reading blogs.
(Apparently I wasn't checking spelling and grammar either.)
November The
magic shows are over and I've spent the last 24 hours getting some much needed sleep.
December I
meant to post a Saturday Sky yesterday but the day got away from me.
I think I need to
work on my beginning sentences. On a brighter note, we finally got our Christmas
tree up and decorated. It didn't take long before our leaping, climbing ferret (that
would be Phoebe of course) started climbing the tree to steal ornaments. Not only
that but she's sticky and smells like tree sap. Here's a picture of her rolling
on the tree skirt.
"I love the
smell of tree sap in the morning."

A Meme and a Ferret in a Hat
On Saturday I went
to the NCAA Division II
Championship football game with Rick and a friend of ours and her brother with
the tickets we won. It was beautiful weather, not at all what you would expect for
December, a great crowd and a lot of fun.
It was a good game
between Grand Valley State University in Michigan and Northwest Missouri State University
with a close score up until the end when Grand Valley State pulled ahead.
It was the first
time in years that I've been to a live football game. Besides it was a good excuse
to get some sock knitting time.
As for the meme,
I don't do them very often but Rebekah
tagged me for the six weird things about myself and Christmas is coming up. It's
getting harder to come up with knitting content as Christmas gets closer. So here
you go.
I get more excited
about fruits and vegetables than about meats and desserts, well except chocolate.
I like meat and the occasional dessert but I don't feel right unless I have fruits
and vegetables every day.
I always go back
and check to make sure I've locked the door and I've been known to drive back
to see if I've shut the garage door. They are almost always shut and locked. I
think this is because of the times I haven't shut the door well and it blew open.
I avoid talking
on the phone and calling anyone, or as Theresa
says, phone-o-phobic. Luckily Rick loves talking on the phone. I use email a lot
but I would rather not use a phone. One of my previous cell phones died from lack
of use.
I like to eat raw
potatoes.
I hate reflections
on the windshield of the car. This peculiarity got me a special sale price on
my current car long after the sale was over. The price tag was making a reflection
on windshield and I got annoyed and threw it on the floor. They didn't notice
until a few days later when I went to buy the car.
I rarely go shopping
unless I'm looking for something specific.
I'm going to break
the rules and not tag anyone because I'm always uncomfortable doing that. (Another
weird thing?) So if you're reading this and want to do it, consider yourself tagged.
Instead I'll leave you with a picture of Balt in his dress hat.
