Mail Day

It's been a hectic week and I haven't had much time to knit or spin. I was supposed to go to a meeting last night but I forgot about it. It wouldn't have mattered anyway though since I was still working when the meeting started. That's basically how the whole week has been going. So it was good to come home to a package in the mail. Over the holidays, I won Kat's XXmas Contest with my pictures of the neighborhood Christmas decorations. Phoebe was the first one to check out the package.

Phoebe checking out the shipping envelope

"Are you sure there's nothing else in there?"

She assured me the envelope and its contents were completely safe for humans, and ferrets.

Contents of package from Kat

Starting from the top left is some Regia sock yarn in lovely blues and grays, a chocolate bar, a beautiful fall photo that was taken at Tregelley's Fiber Farm, some gorgeous merino lace weight yarn, and some scarf patterns. Thanks Kat for a very nice package of goodies.

Kiri Shawl Progress

Thanks for the kind words on the yarn in my last post. Several people wanted to know what the fiber was in the yarn I'm spinning. It's some Pot Luck fiber that I bought from Little Barn about a year ago. The fiber is a mixture of wool, silk, camel, alpaca, llama, mohair, and other fibers. I bought it mostly as a novelty, but I like the way it spins up. I still need to spin up some more yarn if I'm going to make a scarf too.

Everyone probably knows this by now but Lolly is starting Project Spectrum again on February 1. This time there will be four two-month time spans with three colors in each two month period. Hmm... I'm not sure that made any sense. February and March will cover blue, white, and gray. You don't have to be a knitter to join in. Any arts and crafts are welcome. It's one of the few "alongs" that I can handle. Some of my knitting projects went way past the one month mark but I had fun last year taking Project Spectrum themed photos.

I did some knitting on my Kiri Shawl over the weekend. So far I've done about five pattern repeats, I think. This is the deceptive stage where it's still small and I think I'm going to breeze right through it. The good news is that I've done enough of it that I don't have to look at the charts as much. Here the shawl so far in its prune-like state.
