Back to Normal and a FO

Thanks everyone for your good wishes and kind thoughts. All of us (furred and non-furred) are starting to get back to normal here. I'm starting to emerge from my fog of exhaustion and funk. Course it didn't help that we had to go down to Birmingham for a meeting Tuesday night and didn't get back until after midnight. Zoe, Phoebe, and Katie have been quiet until today when they started getting back to their rambunctious selves. I'm looking forward to a nice quiet weekend hopefully.

I do have a finished object though. I'll give you a chance to compose yourselves after hearing this news. You also might want to put on a pair sunglasses. That's right, I finished the Fluted Banister socks.

The yarn is some that I won in a contest. I think it's from Lotus Blossom on eBay, but I can't really remember right now. They look baggier in the picture than they are in real life. I like the way this pattern turned out. It's an easy knit too. I had a lot of yarn left over too.

Zoe looking at the leftover yarn

"Well mom since this yarn is left over, you don't need it, right?"

It's definitely the right yarn to brighten up a cold winter day.

RIP Balthasar F. Ferret

Balt passed away at 3pm Central Time today with his mom and dad at the age of 6. Balt was named after Rick's GGGrandfather, Balthasar Ruhl, and was always the easy going ferret that loved visitors. He loved playing with the little dog across the street and he would do did a happy ferret dance when he beat Katie Cat in their wrestling matches. He initially thought he could beat his recent health problems but in the end they were too much for his ferret body. He spent his last week taking naps with his Dad...

Rick and Balt napping

...and napping on his mom's chest while Katie Cat napped on mom's legs. He was placed in a casket that Rick made in his shop, along with his blanket, his thing on a string, and a ferret treat. He was buried today in my friend Sandra's pine grove with a baby pine tree as his "head stone".

Balt's grave

I'll miss our morning routine of going to the kitchen to make coffee and give him his daily ferret treat. Then we would go back to my office and he would play with his thing on a string while I checked my email. I'll miss your head sticking out from under the bed so you wouldn't miss anything. I'll miss you tapping on my leg for the game of "pick me up, let me down". RIP Balt.
