Saturday Sky
I haven't posted
a Saturday Sky picture in a long time, but it's a gorgeous day today. It has cooled
down a bit. The sun is shining and there is a little breeze.
It's a lazy day at
the Doctor Dirt house today. I've done very little knitting the past couple of weeks.
I'm a little further along on my sock but not much.
I've done a few rows
here and there on other projects. Since we don't have many plans for this weekend,
I should be able to squeeze in some quality knitting time.
Several people asked
last time if the ferrets stay with us when they're outside or come when they're
called. The answer is no. They have way too much fun to pay attention to us. We
have a strict one person for each ferret outside rule since they always seem to
go in different directions. Even then a lot of running after ferrets is involved,
so we all get a lot of exercise. All of these pictures are taken in our fenced backyard.
We have harnesses and leashes for them when we take them anywhere else. We lost
our very first ferret when he went outside and never came back. Since then, we make
sure our ferrets are familiar with the yard so they, hopefully, won't get lost if
they get out. So far that strategy has worked. I'll leave you with a picture Rick
took of Zoe "helping" him with his ham radio antenna.

Random Yard Tour
Rather than show
you tiny bits of knitting progress, I'm going to try and divert your attention today
with a tour around the yard. I think I'm actually spending more time thinking of
things I would like to knit rather than knitting on the things I should be knitting.
Life is getting back
to normal here, or as normal as it ever gets. The weather here is still quite warm
and the trees are suddenly flowering and getting their leaves. Several years ago
I sent some money to the Arbor Society and they sent me some trees to plant. Well
actually it was more like sticks that would root once you put them in the ground.
I stuck them in the ground and then forgot about them for several years. About half
of them lived and now they're almost too big to move and all in one part of the
yard. Hey I've never been known for my diligent yard work. The crabapple tree is
blooming for the first time this year. Well I think it's the crabapple.
The birds are all
nesting too. Every year, this bird builds a nest behind our front porch light. I
think it's a finch or sparrow of some kind but I'm not sure.
The picture is fuzzy
because I had to take it through the window. She doesn't seem to mind us coming
and going, but it will be a while before I'm able to clean up the porch. Not that
I mind. I get fascinated with watching the nesting progress through the window.
Zoe insisted on going
outside with me this afternoon when I went outside to take pictures. She loves to
explore the wilds of the overgrown grasses.
I promise actual
knitting content next time.

Yawn, It's Monday
This will be a quick
post because I'm tired. We crammed a lot into this past weekend. We had two magic
shows, along with the local magic club. The shows went well but attendance was light.
The weather probably didn't help since we had sunny skies and temperatures in the
upper 80s. There have been years when we've had significant amounts of snow in March.
Obviously not this year though.
Also Rick's parents
and niece came to visit for the weekend. They don't get up that often so we tried
to get in some sightseeing while they were here. Other than Rick's Dad getting a
24-hour stomach bug while he was here, all of us had a good time and enjoyed our
time together. Now I've just got to get some rest and try to remember what I was
doing before all of this came up.
I did get my Anemoi
Mittens kit that I won from the Mini 's
chemo cap contest. I'm looking forward to knitting these mittens. I like the color
combination too.
There was very little
knitting this weekend though. A friend's twins are coming this week, ready or not,
so I've got some things to knit up. I'll leave you with a picture of Phoebe in her
tube, otherwise known as an aluminum dryer hose with duct tape on the ends. Yes,
those are teeth marks on the duct tape. Ferrets like to do their own decorating
so they drag it around to different spots.

gone now?"
