Clyde Settles In and A Little Knitting
Clyde is getting
settled in and quickly growing into his big feet. He now knows what "NOOOO
Bite" means, although he's still trying to figure out when the appropriate
time to bite is. After trying to play with Katie's tail a time or two, Katie just
gives him "The Look" that only a cat can give and he runs the other way.
Zoe is still dragging him around to show him who is boss.
I was searching on
ferrets the other day and came across this page on aging
your ferrets . The 6 to 10 week age was described as equivalent to the "Terrible
Twos". I had to laugh because that's exactly where Clyde is. After a long day
of exploring your new home, there's nothing like a long nap in your hammock.
Stephanie
was asked if the cinnamon color was Clyde's natural color or just the way the photo
looks. The color in the photo is close to his natural color. If anything, he's closer
to being cinnamon colored in real life. He's still got his baby coat though, so
his adult coat may end up being a bit different.
I have been able
to get in a little knitting time, very little. I started on the Claudia Hand Painted
socks. I'm using one ball for the leg of both socks and the other ball for the foot.
I decided to try Chris' Slip
Stitch Rib Pattern on these. I did about an inch of K3, P1 rib and then launched
into the Slip Stitch Rib pattern.
It's probably hard
to tell in the photo but I like the way it breaks up the color changes. Plus it's
an easy pattern.
I'm off to go play
with a ferret and catch up on some blogs.

Introducing Whatshisname
Many thanks for all
of the kind comments and emails on Phoebe. It means a lot to all of us. Phoebe was
buried next to her buddy
Balt and it was painfully quiet here over the weekend. But all of us, animal
and human, spent most of the weekend like this, huddled up napping and daring anyone
to bother us.
I tried to avoid
the computer most of the weekend so I'm way behind on blogs. It was way too quiet
though and we started to worry about Zoe. She's never been an only ferret before.
So we were at the pet store to get litter and we were playing with the ferrets.
There was this ferret that was way more active and nippy than the rest. Well we
just had to take him home. His fate probably wouldn't be good otherwise. It turns
out he's just an active youngster. He just needed some exercise and a little training
that human skin isn't as tough as ferret skin so he can't play with us as rough
as he can with other ferrets.
We've just about
settled on Clyde for a name. He seems large for his age. He's already as big as
Zoe. Zoe has been reminding already that she's queen of this house by dragging him
around by the back of his neck. He seems to constantly have ferret spit on the back
of his neck. Zoe seems happy though. She did her happy ferret dance this morning
for the first time in days and we have the pitter patter of ferret feet again. Life
is getting back to normal.
Now for your public
service announcement for today. Natural
Balance Venison dog and cat food has been recalled due to melamine in the
rice protein concentrate. We don't use it here but I was afraid someone else out
there might be using it.
