Welcome To My Week

Getting through this week has been like slogging through deep mud. Nothing bad has happened, just a lot of work to make any progress. It started off with me having to deal with my insurance over an order for prescription medicine. We have a prescription drug plan with our insurance. In a lapse of judgment on my part, I clicked the "We will contact your doctor for a new prescription" option, thinking it would save me a trip to the doctor's office. Nope, they never got it and I ended up having to go over and get a written prescription anyway. Then our Internet service kept going up and down, so we call our ISP and run through all kinds of checks and troubleshooting steps. Suddenly everything starts working again. We decide something we did must have fixed it. We just didn't know what. So I finally drive out and two blocks away I see two BellSouth trucks parked beside the road with some guys looking into a large hole in the ground with several large cables coming out of it. Sigh.

But there have been plenty of good things too. Clyde is settling in nicely, growing quickly, and exploring everything - like this mountain of laundry. (We're having a small laundry crisis here this week.)

Clyde climbing down the mountain of laundry

"Hey look. I'm a mountain climber."

He's been a big help with the laundry as you might guess. I've had a hard time getting decent pictures of him because he moves so fast he's gone by the time I snap the picture. There is still the occasional spat with Zoe, especially when he tries to steal "her stuff", and he still only has supervised play time.

Elvis the dove got his cast off this week. Rick called me after the vet visit and said "The vet said Elvis is doing fine. He just needs to start his physical therapy in a few days." Huh? After asking Rick to repeat himself several times, (I was sure I misunderstood him.) I found out that physical therapy consists of having him step from finger to finger. Speaking of birds, remember the bird nest on our porch? I finally spotted the baby birds this week. I think there are three babies. They're growing fast too.

I actually got a little bit of knitting done, mostly on my Claudia socks. Here's a close-up of the slip stitch rib pattern, not stretched out. It's a subtle variation but I like it.

I'll leave with a link to an article about some people who thought they were buying poodles were actually buying sheep.

Knitters' Coffee Swap 2 Questions

Here are the Knitters' Coffee Swap Questions, and my answers.

1. Whole bean or ground?
Whole bean. I like to grind my own depending on what I use to make the coffee.

2. Fully-loaded or decaf?
Fully-loaded always.

3. Regular or flavored?
Regular.

4. How do you drink your coffee?
In the mornings I usually add lots milk to my coffee. Sometimes I'll make espresso and just add a bit of sugar.

5. Favorite coffee ever?
A good French Roast or Italian Roast

6. Are you fussy about your coffee or will any old bean do?
I'm probably not that fussy. I have a hard time telling the difference between various beans. The qualities of rare coffee beans are often lost on me. I do like good quality coffee and dark roasts.

7. Favorite treats to have with your coffee?
Most days I just have coffee but sometimes I like to have some chocolate or cookies with my coffee.

8. Anything else about your coffee preferences?
Not that come to mind right now.

9. Yarn/fiber you love?
Sock yarns. Lace yarns. Any yarns made of natural fibers.

10. Yarn/fiber you hate?
Acrylic yarns. Stringy cotton yarns. There are times when I knit with those too though.

11. What's on your needles?
A mohair lace shawl, two pairs of socks, and a baby bib.

12. Favorite colors?
I like most colors except pastels. Most of my clothes are in the red, blue, purple range, autumn colors, or basic black and grey.

13. Allergies?
None.

14. Anything you really love, really don't like, or just need to get off your chest?
Nope, just looking forward to the swap.
