Pile of yarn and a spindle

As The Yarn Turns

The tales of how I squeeze knitting and spinning into an already full life

Dear Governor...

Dear Governor, I know it's been terribly dry here this summer. The farmers and everyone else have been suffering. It's been so dry, even the weeds weren't growing. I'm sure having the entire state pray for rain seemed like a good idea at the time. Perhaps, though, you should have been more specific in your request. You know, request some frequent showers instead of downpour after downpour. Maybe you could have spread out the request over a month instead of having all of those prayers jammed into a single week. We had 3 inches of rain on Friday. It looks like we're going to have another 2 inches of rain tonight. Cars are washing off of the roads and the road in front of our house is a river right now. We've had many smaller, less than an inch, storms in between these two. Right now the grass is grower taller by the hour but it's too wet to mow. This afternoon I discovered a patch of grass on the other side of the house that's two feet tall. I swear it wasn't there a week ago. There's a nice crop of mushrooms growing in all of our yards. Perhaps we should pray for moderation next. At least the rain is keeping the temperatures cooler.

I have actually been knitting though. I've made a little progress on the Claudia Hand Painted socks.

I've also been knitting on the Kiri Shawl that I put down for a while. I have about four more pattern repeats before I start on the edging.

"Wow, mom's making me a nice, soft fuzzy blanket."

Then as if I haven't started enough projects, I decided to join the Mystery Stole 3 KAL. I'm not sure what possessed me to join. I was one clue behind when I joined. Now I'm two clues behind. I kept seeing it on the blogs and couldn't resist. Besides, I have a cone of lace weight yarn in my stash that could encircle the earth many times. Now I'm just waiting for beads to arrive.

So I'll leave you with the Mr. Lee Catcam, in case you haven't seen it already. I kept meaning to post the link for a while now and then I'd forget. Mr. Lee is a cat who wears a little camera while he goes on his rounds. The web site has some pictures from his adventures.
