Handy Fest and Missing Shoes
It's Handy
Week here in the Shoals, so we've been trying to catch some music. Monday
night we went to see our friend Max
Russell at a local restaurant.
Then on Tuesday we
went to see Eric
Essix at another local restaurant.
Eric Essix always
draws a big crowd so we had a long wait before we got seated at a table. Thinking
ahead, I brought my sock knitting along for the wait. So while we were waiting for
a table and listening to the music, a woman stopped by and asked me how many socks
I thought I could knit while I'm waiting. I had to laugh because someone made a
comment about my sock knitting at the same restaurant for the same group. I did
make some good progress on my sock considering I haven't been knitting on them much
lately.
In other news, shoes
have been disappearing in house at a rapid pace, especially the white shoes. We
trying to track down the thief.
"Who are
you calling a thief?"

Harry Potter Fun
Some weeks you just
want to curl up on the bed and put your paws over your eyes.
That's kind of how
last week went. Nothing terribly bad, just one of those of weeks where you just
want to get it over so you can move on to a better week.
The highlight of
the week came on Friday night. We did some magic for the Harry Potter release at
a local bookstore. Well Rick did most of the magic, I just assisted. It was absolute
chaos but a lot of fun. We also magically produced the first Harry Potter before
they started selling them. This is the view from the front of the store.
If you could see
all the way to the back of the store, you would see that the lines went all the
way to back and then around to the outside and almost the road. As we got closer
to release time, the crowd would start yelling and then counted down the last minute.
But the best part was the recipient of the first book we magically produced. It
was a three-year old boy who won the costume contest. We told him he needed to concentrate
to help up produce the book. When the book appeared, his eyes got big, a big smile
broke out, and he yelled "We did it!". He was the happiest person in the
store I'm sure. It was my favorite moment from the night.
I didn't get as much
knitting done as I hoped but I did finish Clue 1, Charts A and B on MS3.
That's Katie's feet
in the picture. She insisted on examining my work. I'm working from a cone of yarn.
One of the reasons I like working from a cone is that I don't have to worry about
winding yarn into balls or joining ends. So what did I do. I tripped over the yarn
and broke it so I still had to make a join. I decided to use a Russian join, which
I haven't done that often. Hopefully it will hold during the blocking. We have two
weeks before the next clue is released, so I'm hoping to catch up in the next two
weeks. The problem is that this is also W.C.
Handy week so we'll probably spend some time going to the activities this week.
I love being able to hear music almost everywhere you go in town. Okay maybe I won't
be able to catch up.
