Some Stash Enhancement
It's still 40 billion
degrees here and I'm starting to accept the fact that we'll be stuck with it for
at least another week. It should be less humid though, and "they" swear
I'll notice the difference. We'll see. This is what Katie thinks about the weather.
Ignore that wad of cat fur on the couch.
"If it wasn't
so hot, I would smack you for waking me up with that picture."
Lately it seems all
of our clients are out of town, not far but far enough that we're not familiar with
the territory. So last week after Rick got lost coming back from seeing one of our
clients (Go ahead and insert your favorite joke about men and asking for directions
here.), he decided to get a GPS. It seemed like a good idea to me. So this week
both of us went to see a client in Decatur, about 45 minutes away and Rick decided
it would be fun to take the GPS along. Well Rick decides to ignore the GPS and go
the way he likes to go. (I'm sure there's another joke here too.) The GPS doesn't
like it when you do that. You end up listening to a lot of this.
"Turn right
in 200 yards. Turn right now. (You don't turn.) Turn right in 200 yards. Turn right
now. (You still don't turn.) Make a U-Turn. Make a U-Turn. Make a U-Turn. Make a
U-Turn or you're going to die!" Meanwhile Rick kept saying "Hold on. She'll
find the new route." Have I mentioned how cranky I am in hot weather? The GPS
isn't allowed in the car with me for a few days.
On to more a pleasant
subject - stash enhancement.
When KnitPicks
had there book sale a while back, I had to get The
Opinionated Knitter .
I've been wanting it for a long time and the sale was the perfect opportunity to
buy it. It's interesting seeing Elizabeth Zimmermann's original newsletters as well
as Meg's comments. Of course, I couldn't just buy a book. I also bought some Shadow
laceweight yarn. That's the reddish brown yarn on the right. I also bought some
KnitPicks double point and circular needles. There's not in this picture because
I couldn't find them when I went to take the picture. I haven't had a chance to
use them yet but I like the look and feel of them. Then on a recent trip to the
yarn store I bought some Jaeger Trinity yarn, shown in the middle. It's a silk,
cotton, and polyamide blend. I also bought the fiber on the left to spin. I'm not
sure how it will spin up though. Even though it is apparently more for felting than
spinning, I'm curious to see how it spins up.
I've been to busy
to get much knitting done, so I'm hoping to have more time this weekend and maybe
work on my Ravelry account. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hot
That's all I have
to say about August so far. This week, and next, calls for highs in upper 90s and
low 100s with a heat index of around 108. I miss July. On Saturday, I helped a friend
with her yard sale for a few hours. I think it fried my brain and I haven't recovered
since then. We've also been very busy lately. Busy is good. It allows me to buy
yarn and ferret food but doesn't leave me much time for anything else. So I'm in
hibernation mode, waiting for the cooler September temperatures. It has been a struggle
for me to blog lately so I even took a break from the computer this weekend.
I have been knitting
on the Mystery Stole 3 but I'm still way behind, on Clue 3. Here's my progress after
Clue 2, Chart 3. I'll try to get a better, stretched out picture later. Like I said,
I've been lazy.
I still like it but
I haven't decided if I'm going to make the symmetrical version or the asymmetrical
version. Right now I'm leaning toward the symmetrical version, mostly because it
will probably end up as a gift. I've also been making some knitting-related purchases
lately, but I'll go through those another day.
Oh, I almost forgot.
I finally got my invitation to Ravelry .
They must be adding people at a pretty good clip. There were quite a few people
in front of me the last time I checked. I haven't added anything to my account yet
but I'm SydneyH on Ravelry.
I'll leave you with
a picture of Clyde trying to help me decide on my next project.
