Trundling Along

It's been another very hot and busy week here at the Doctor Dirt house so this is just a quick update. That means there has been a lot of time spent setting up computers and networks, but not much time knitting. Since it seems that we still have lots of hot weather left this year, I'm thinking about making the Wing Top from the summer Interweave Knits, mostly because Jen's looks so darn good and I think I have some yarn that would work. So far I've only done a couple of swatches for it though.

I could swear they said on the news tonight that our area was one of the hottest places in the western hemisphere today. It certainly felt like it. It must be good weather for watermelons though. There are watermelons everywhere, including a giant one in our house.

If Rick's face looks red, it's because that watermelon is very heavy and he was struggling to hold it while I kept taking pictures. We actually got that watermelon when we went to lunch the other day and someone came in selling watermelons. Yes, it's that kind of town.

Clyde says it's so hot, he just wants to crawl under the rug.

On a sadder note, my friend Sandra (blogless) is moving out of town tomorrow. Even though I know I'll see her from time to time, I still hate to see her go. She was one of my first friends when I moved here and she's seen me through some of the best and the worst times of my life. That's me, on the left, and Sandra at dinner before she heads out of town.

The good news is that the temperatures should get below triple digits this weekend and things seem to have calmed down for a bit. With a bit of luck, I should be able to make some knitting progress this weekend.
