Cooler Days and Rambunctious Ferrets

Our extremely hot, dry weather finally broke over the weekend. We've had cooler temps with highs in the 80s and actual rain, much more typical weather for August. Everything is turning green again and my Morning Glories even decided it was safe to bloom.

We've still been very busy with lots of late nights working, but I decided to just sit down and finish up the first Slip Stitch Rib sock. I didn't have that much more to do but I had only been knitting a round or two at a time. Besides, I was feeling lace overload and needed a break from it.

Clyde inspecting my sock

Clyde is inspecting my work. This is the Claudia Hand Painted sock yarn where I used one skein for the leg and another for the foot. I like the yarn but I would have liked it better if there wasn't such a big difference between the skeins. With any luck, maybe I will finish the second sock before the year is out. I'm looking forward to this long weekend.

On these cooler mornings, Clyde and Zoe have been having extended wrestling matches throughout the house. Clyde tries to use his weight advantage by just laying on Zoe but Zoe still has the speed and flexibility advantage.

Well while I was working on my blog, the police busted a neighbor's teenage son for drugs. One of our neighbors and I walked outside to see police cars everywhere. We all kind of suspected it was going on, so it's not too much of a surprise. Still it's more excitement than we've had around here in a long time.
