C is for ....

C is for Coffee and Chocolate

C is for Coffee, best served with Chocolate. While I can survive the morning without chocolate, you probably wouldn't want to see me before my first cup of coffee. I'm incoherent and cranky before that first cup. Luckily, chocolate is in abundance since we just got past Valentine's Day and there are plenty of coffee beans.

C is for Coffee Beans

I've been ordering coffee from Peet's for many years. I drink other brands too, but I always go back to Peet's for my everyday coffee. On a good day, I can sit and savor that first cup of coffee while I come to my senses. Rick doesn't drink any caffeinated beverages at all in the morning. I don't know how he does it but he's always alert first thing in the morning. That's okay, it leaves more coffee for me.

C is also for a slightly blurry picture of Clyde who dashed out the door Friday morning and climbed into Rick's car.

Apparently, he had somewhere he needed to go.

Just a Relaxing Weekend

We're finally all healthy here, so we had a nice relaxing weekend without any, or much, sniffling, sneezing, or coughing. If you're planning on coming to northwest Alabama, I would wait. I know several people who have come down with pneumonia and bunches of other who have the usual winter crud. Apparently we're all Typhoid Marys here.

I spent most of the weekend spinning and making gauge swatches. The gauge swatches were part of a "find some yarn, find a pattern, see if it works together, rinse and repeat". Now I know I could just work on one of the many projects I already have going, but I'm itching to start something new. I may have to be satisfied with something simple like a hat or scarf just so I can get it out of my system. I did finally give my silk yarn it's final bath.

Handspun silk yarn

The color is fairly accurate here. It's got to be my worst plying job ever. Either silk is more difficult to ply or I just wasn't paying attention. I suspect the latter. I still love the stuff though. It has a wonderful drape and shine. There's only a little less than 100 yards of lace-weight yarn, though, so I don't know what I'll do with it. That's okay, I have some more silk fiber in the closet.

This is what our mornings are like around here, although the participants may change.

I keep forgetting, but I want to thank Robin for the You Make My Day award.

Make my day award

It really did make my day. She's certainly one of the many blogs that make my day. It's safe to say all of the blogs I read make my day. It would be way too hard to narrow it down to 10. So consider yourselves awarded.
