Pile of yarn and a spindle

As The Yarn Turns

The tales of how I squeeze knitting and spinning into an already full life

Random Thursday

I've got some catching up to do so today there's a little bit of everything, in no particular order.

- Note that if you are changing cartridges in a color laserjet, do not under any circumstances drop the cartridge on the floor. You will end up with a poof of colored powder everywhere, especially on your shoes and pants. The good news is that it cleans up easy.

- I've been wanting to knit an Elizabeth Zimmermann Ribwarmer, so I decided to use some of my handspun. Unfortunately I'm not sure if I'll have enough. I should probably just give up the idea and knit a scarf or something out of the yarn but I'm going to plow on through anyway. It's an extremely fast knit so it won't be a big deal if I end up having to rip it out. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

- On Tuesday I gave a talk about knitting to a study group. It's a group of women who get together once a month and invite someone to talk about some subject. I found out about it when I went to the library's used bookstore one day. About half the group had some experience knitting and I even had one person who knit during the talk. It was interesting and I had fun with it. I talked about everything from knitting art to knitting clothing and a little bit about spinning.

- My computer at work has been giving me the dreaded BSoD (blue screen of death) this week. This does not make for an efficient workday. So in my spare time, I've been trying to figure out the source of the problem. So today, as a last resort before taking more drastic measures, I unplugged the little printer I have hooked up to my computer. It's rarely used so I hardly even notice it. Problem solved. I am much happier now.

- Lately Clyde has been coming up to Katie and just staring at her.

Katie and Clyder

He'll stay like that for five or ten minutes, a long time by ferret standards. Eventually Katie will start licking him. Then she'll grab his head or neck in her mouth and off they'll go to play "cat and ferret".
