Leap Day Blogiversary

Four years ago today I started this blog. It wasn't a very meaty post and it took another eleven days to post my next message. (Some things never change, huh?) This blog opened up a whole new world for me. I've learned a lot and made a lot of online friends. I started it mostly out of curiosity about blogs but I ended up enjoying it more than I expected. So in honor of this 4th (or 1st depending on how you look at it) blogiversary, I'll have a little contest. A random commenter to this post will win some sort of yarny gift to be decided. Those of you outside the US are welcome to join in too. How about until 5PM Central time on Friday, March 7.

I'm starting to see a few signs of spring this week. I've noticed some of the trees are getting buds on them. Now last year this happened and we ended up with a lot of frozen trees by the end of March. Hopefully this year will turn out better since we can still have a number of cold days in March. That reminds me, those of you who are gardeners and nature lovers, Project Budburst is collecting data from citizens on the timing of leafing and flowering in your area for use in climate change data. I've also noticed more bird activity lately. I've seen the pair of bluebirds that nest in the bluebird box in my yard are way more active now. That's the female bluebird keeping an eye out for worms.

After starting on the second half of the Ribwarmer, I decided that there is no way I would have enough yarn. So I'm going to rip it out and search through the stash for some other yarn. It would have been close, but not close enough. I did finish spinning the first of two skeins from the Spunky Eclectic Fiber club. This is some superwash Corriedale. Now I probably wouldn't have chosen this fiber but I've enjoyed spinning it and it made me think about how I wanted to divide the fiber up for spinning. Navaho plying would have been better but I wasn't sure I wanted to tackle that.

I'll leave you with a picture of the ferrets getting ready to play in one of their tubes. That's Zoe in the front, Dexter in the back left, and Clyde in the back right.
