Pile of yarn and a spindle

As The Yarn Turns

The tales of how I squeeze knitting and spinning into an already full life

Look, Over There!

I've been doing some knitting and spinning but honestly it's just not interesting enough to show. So instead I'll divert your attention with Peeps and other randominity! Have I mentioned how much I love Peeps?

Peeps

Now Easter comes around, I must have Peeps. I eat so many Peeps that it pretty much takes me a year to want any more. Rick has come to expect the Easter Peep obsession. He's tried to get me Halloween or Christmas Peeps but it's just not the same. For you Peeps lovers out there, you might want to check out the Washington Post Peeps Diorama Contest. (I'm not sure if you have to register to view it or not.). I'm amazed at the imagination that went into these.

If you remember the cartoon a while back, Simon's Cat 'Cat Man Do', Episode 2 is now out, 'Let Me In'.

I'm sure spring is here now. Besides the trees that are blooming, the seagulls have left. There is this flock of seagulls that overwinters in a parking lot near our office.

Seagulls in the parking lot

They've been coming there since I moved here. The Tractor Supply store in the background is a recent addition so they don't have as much room now and the city has been working on the drainage problem so the parking lot doesn't flood as much. But there's a nice ditch at the edge of the parking lot and I often see someone throwing some food out to them while they eat their own lunch. It must not be a bad place to spend the winter if you're a seagull but it still cracks me up though.

Finally I'll leave you with the latest Ferret Smackdown matchup. That's Dexter on top with a headlock on Clyde.

E is for ...

E is for all of the different types of eyes we have at our house. Rick has beautiful brown eyes that always seem to snap shut when the shutter goes off.

E is for Rick's Eyes

Katie has eyes that can change from gold to green depending on the light and her mood and they especially like to watch for birds..

E is for Cat Eyes

Dexter has these amazing deep burgundy eyes that I've never seen in another ferret. You have to get the light just right and unfortunately it doesn't show up here.

E is for Dexter Eyes

Elvis has his dove eyes that are always looking to see what we're doing.

E is for Dove Eyes

Last but not least, I have my quirky multicolor eyes - blue-grey with orange centers. The only other person in my family with eyes like mine is my nephew.

E is for My Eyes

It was a hectic week last week, so there wasn't much knitting going on. Hopefully there will be more time for knitting and spinning this week.
