An "I" and Some Monkey Business

I is for Icelandic Fiber.

I is for Icelandic Fiber

This is some Icelandic Fiber from Spunky Eclectic. I like to predraft my fiber before I spin it. That way it just seems to slip through my fingers. I had a bit of glitz fiber in a coordinating color so I predrafted the two together to give it a bit of sparkle. It's hard to see in the photo. Those white specks are the flash of the glitzy stuff. I'm really looking forward to spinning this fiber. I hope my spinning skills do it justice.

Apparently my brain has been on vacation this week. I had a few yards of green singles left over from the previous batch of Spunky Eclectic fiber I spun. I figured I would ply the two together in case I ever needed a few yards of green yarn some day. So I plied them up and I ended up with the worst, kinked up mess I've ever made. Just as I was getting ready to throw it out, I realized what I did. It turns out I plied the singles in the same direction as I spun them. For you non-spinners out there, usually you spin the singles in one direction (say clockwise) and ply the singles together in the other direction (counterclockwise). So I ended up running it through again in the reverse direction. I know. It would have been much easier to just go out and buy some green yarn if I needed it.

Monkey socks

I did successfully start a new pair of socks though. I started a pair of No Purl Monkey Socks with some Socks That Rock lightweight, color Peaseblossom. I'm sure I'm the last remaining person on the planet to knit these. I'm having a blast knitting them and I love the colors. Maybe I won't take so long to finish these.

H is for ...

H is for Hiding. For ferrets, it's all about hiding themselves or they're favorite things. One of the favorite places to hide and to hide things is behind the bookcase in the living room. (Click the picture to embiggen.)

Clyde hiding a bag behind the bookcase

"Wait, who took the bag out from behind the bookcase?" - Clyde

The problem is that sometimes, unless you do a very good job of it, someone else will come along and take it.

Dexter stealing the bag

" I could have sworn I took that bag out from behind the bookcase." - Dexter

Of course, a bag makes a nice place to hide too, as long as no one can find you.

Zoe and Clyde find Dexter hiding in the bag

"Ah, that's better... Oh no!" - Dexter

"Hey is there room in there for two?" - Zoe

"There's my bag!" - Clyde

And so it goes with the ferrets. Somehow time got away from me and I'm a little behind with the ABC Along, so I'll be doing "I" sometime this week to catch up.

For people in this area, the Tennessee Fiber Festival will be held May 23-24 in Dickson, Tennessee. Dickson is about an hour west of Nashville along I-40. Since I'll be out of town the previous weekend, I'm not sure if I'll be going yet. Thanks to (blogless?) Kathy for letting me know about it.

For those of you who are still waiting for flowers, here's a rose from the garden.
