Pile of yarn and a spindle

As The Yarn Turns

The tales of how I squeeze knitting and spinning into an already full life

Random Tuesday

It just feels like a random day today.

- When we set a tuna can on the kitchen counter, it takes approximately two seconds for Katie to wake up and run into the kitchen. We get no reaction with say a can of corn. So does she recognize the sound of a tuna hitting the counter?

- We were at the Huntsville Magic Club meeting the other night. It was one of those light nights where a lot of people busy or sick or something. A lot of our members work or worked for NASA at one time so the conversation eventually turned to NASA stories. It was an interesting night.

- One of the members of the Magic Club, Ralph, is in his 80s and worked on the Apollo missions. His wife, also in her 80s, helps him in his magic act and usually crochets at the meetings. At the last meeting, Ralph came by, looked at the socks I was knitting and said "Another one that has to keep her hands busy." Ralph's wife learned to weave about a year ago and now she teaches weaving at the senior center. Ralph teaches magic at the Senior Center. I just love seeing people who stay active like that.

- I've been trying to spin a little bit each day. It's either that or start using some of this fiber for insulation. Often I mean to spin but then I get distracted and forget. I'm on my second bobbin of the Icelandic fiber. I just love the colors in this fiber.

- A lot of ferret photos I take end up looking like this.

Ferrets long gone

That's right, there's no ferret is this photo. It was supposed to be a photo of Zoe. By the time I clicked the shutter, she had zoomed off. Sometimes I'll manage to have a hind foot or tail on one edge. Thank goodness for digital cameras. After several attempts, I finally got a decent photo of a game of "Hide and Ferret Seek" with Clyde and Dexter.

"Mom, we're too busy to pose for photos!"
