The Time Change is Here!

I'm probably in the minority but I am so glad the time has changed back. I never quite get used to daylight savings time.

I didn't get around to taking a picture of my cardigan. I'm still knitting the back and I'm getting close to the armholes. Hmm.. I probably need to measure it. Picture lots of red stockinette stitch. Really I'll try to get a photo of it soon.

I won a book from Chris in one of her book contests a while back. The book is Show No Fear (Navy SEALs) by Marliss Melton with a fine set of abs on the cover.

I haven't started it yet since I'm still backlogged from the crazy days of summer but it's next on my list. I'll post a review once I finish it.

We had our usual crowd of kids for Halloween. In previous years, the younger kids would come early and then the ages would progressively increase as the night wore on. This year was backwards. The older kids came early and the younger kids came later. They probably figured out that we start running out of candy early. I bought two giant bags of candy at Sams, about the equivalent of 4 normal bags of Halloween candy. I got nervous Saturday afternoon and went to the store to get another bag just in case. There was no Halloween candy at the store. So I ended up running out of candy at 8 pm and then went across to the street to a neighbor's Halloween party.

I did get a pumpkin carved this year.

pumpkins

The one of the left is the one I carved. It's supposed to be a cat. The one on the right is a ceramic pumpkin. I'm not sure what's going on with the double vision thing. I had problems carving it because I was getting WAY too much help from Dexter. He insisted on digging the insides out while I carved. Sorry I didn't have enough hands for a picture. Just imagine a ferret head going into the pumpkin, every time I started carving and caused the cat to lose its ears. If you decide to carve a pumpkin next year, go get one of those deluxe pumpkin carving kits. They come with several sizes of pumpkin saws and a scooping thing. It is so much easier than using a knife, and safer for ferrets.

Speaking of ferrets, if you have ferrets in your home, be careful about spreading the flu to your ferrets too. Ferrets are susceptible to the same strains of flu humans get and are used in flu research. I've seen reports of many ferrets getting the flu this year.

This time Katie cat gets to be the star of the blog. I brought home a box the other day to put some stuff in and this is what I found.
