Feeling Philosophical

Geez where does the time go anyway? This week was doctor's appointment week. On Monday, I had to go get my blood drawn before my appointment yesterday. It was still fairly warm but, hey, it's November and I'm wearing my handknit socks anyway. So I'm waiting for them to call me in and a guy looks down at my feet and starts admiring my socks. I told him I had knit them and told him how much I like my handknit socks. He just keeps admiring my socks. I know nothing else about the guy but I figure he can't be too bad if he admires handknit socks.

The doctor talked me into getting a swine flu shot. (I hate shots of all kinds.) Other than being a little sleepy yesterday, I haven't had any reactions.

Dexter seems to have a newspaper fetish lately.

Newspaper under the couch

I like to spread the Sunday paper on the floor and read it. If I don't keep my eye on him though, he'll steal parts of it and hide it under the couch.

Speaking of ferrets... If you've had ferrets and have seen this LOLcats (LOLferrets?) about Pandora's box, you know how appropriate it is. Someone on one of the ferret lists mentioned that Pandora's Box also contained Hope. That seems appropriate for ferrets too, since nothing much gets a ferret down.

Roz posted this quote from Lorne Michaels, creator of Saturday Night Live, a while back. It's from season 2 of the show Iconoclasts on the Sundance channel. I'm pretty sure I saw part of that show but not the whole thing. You can see part of the show online but only part of the following quote. Here's the quote because it's worth repeating, but go see what Roz says about it too. It's a short post.

Lorne Michaels: "It is a cardinal belief of mine that you don't know when the best part of your life is about to begin. We assume it's between eighteen and twenty two because that's what we're brought up to believe, but very often the best part of people's lives is a surprise to them. You can see an astounding piece of work by somebody in their seventies or eighties or sixties or fifties, and you just don't know, when the moment of that combination of their talent where the culture is, it's just going to happen, and I think that's what makes it not a thing that anybody can talk about with any real confidence, because we don't know."

With that, I'll leave with two of Pandora's Box of ferrets. That would be Clyde and Dexter. They've been very frisky since the weather is cooler.
